Christina Edwards

Christina Edwards is the School Administrator and teaches piano and children’s classes at Blackboard Sound. She can distinctly remember falling for the piano when she was but a wee lass listening to her father play Tuxedo Junction and his collection of standards (and not so standards). Lessons were just a way of life from the age of 4 (no summers off!), and although she may have taken an extraordinarily winding road to get there, it was only inevitable that teaching/playing would be her life.

After obtaining her PATM (Piano Performance Diploma) from Cambrian College in Sudbury, Christina moved to Brandon, Manitoba, where she was awarded her BMus in Collaborative Piano Performance. Masterclasses, recitals, festivals, pedagogy classes and endless performances filled those years. After 9 years of school she freelanced and, satisfied that music was her way of life, she pursued performing and teaching exclusively.

While in London, ON, Christina took on the role of school administrator in one of the city’s major music stores/schools. Here she established her abilities to organize and schedule large numbers of students. However, teaching was still a passion and it was her desire to work somewhere where she would be able to become part of a community and connect with students and clients on a more personal level. When the opportunity arose to work at Blackboard Sound in the vibrant music community of Saugeen Shores, she didn’t hesitate. Christina is happy to offer one-on- one piano lessons at Blackboard Sound, and in the fall, group classes for little ones, and a marvellous week of art & music Camp in August! Stay tuned for more details for all of those. Eternally grateful to those who inspired and helped her understand how to coordinate hands, heart and piano, she works hard to help anyone who wants to play piano learn the skills that will allow them to play what they want to play!

Whether you want to learn Conservatory, other schools and methods, or just simply for fun, Christina enjoys nothing more than sharing the journey with students as they work to achieve their goals. Music is a joy to be shared!
